I LOVE YOU BECAUSE - Love This Show (Review) - Glenn Sumi, Now Toronto
NNNN (out of 5)
In a few short years, Angelwalk Theatre has carved out a nice little niche for itself mounting fine productions of smart, imaginative off-Broadway musicals. They succeed once again with I Love You Because, an adorable show about a bunch of cynical 20-something New Yorkers looking for love in the caffeine- and alcohol-fuelled city.

I LOVE YOU BECAUSE - A 'Gem' of a Show (Review) - Mark Andrew Lawrence, Broadway World Toronto
Director Darcy Evans has worked with the cast to create refreshingly honest, likable performances that make you quickly begin to care about these characters. [...] I Love You Because leaves one with a renewed hope for modern musical theatre writing, and once again we owe a debt of gratitude to Angelwalk for allowing Toronto audiences the chance to see this show from off-Broadway. Don’t pass this one up!

I LOVE YOU BECAUSE... you proved me wrong (Review) - Theatre Isn't Dead
The performances were funny, endearing and I found myself rooting for each ot them not only despite their flaws, but because of them. This is a sweet, funny, often insightful show that has creative direction and choreography and a talented cast. It's worth the trek to North York.

The Canadian Premiere of I LOVE YOU BECAUSE (Photo Coverage) - Kelly Cameron, Broadway World Toronto
The show was a hit off-Broadway in 2005, and features a cast of some of Toronto’s best and brightest. The show is inspired by Pride and Prejudice and tells the story of love and relationships in modern day New York City (think Friends set to music!).

For Elena Juatco, art imitates love (Interview) - Richard Ouzounian, Toronto Star
Like any 26-year-old woman, Elena Juatco has experienced “loves and losses and everything in between.” It’s useful fodder for her latest project, starring in a musical about love at the Toronto Centre for the Arts. Juatco performs opposite Gabi Epstein, Jeff Madden and Jay Davis in I Love You Because, opening March 30 at the North York theatre.

"I Love You Because" is beautiful in every way! (Review) - Adnan Mohamedbhai, theartsscene.ca
This cast perform like a family. Amazing chemistry. There are no loose ends, no compromises. Every little detail is beautifully crafted. The most significant part of the entire production is the underlining message: love one another not in spite of each other’s faults but because of them. It is a very powerful message.

Review: I Love You Because (Angelwalk Theatre) (Review) - Tasha DiLoreto, Mooney on Theatre
I Love You Because lived up to my expectations and completely surpassed them. [...] The actors were fantastic, the songs were catchy, the script felt nearly perfect to me, and the set was to-die-for. [...] I highly recommend seeing this musical, it’s one of the best productions I’ve seen in long time.

Loving Darcy Evans (Interview) - Chris Dupuis, Xtra! Canada
Beyond a love for the material, the show represents an exciting turning point for Evans. An 18-year veteran of the Canadian theatre scene, including eight seasons at the Stratford Festival and a stint directing in the Big Apple, this production marks his Toronto directorial debut, something harder to come by than it sounds.

Q&A with musical theatre gal Gabi Epstein (Interview) - Theatre Isn't Dead
Q: Another new musical from Angelwalk theatre starring you! Tell us about this one.
Gabi Epstein: Thanks! I am thrilled to be working for this company. I Love You Because is a modern musical love story told through the eyes of six New Yorkers. It is your classic romantic comedy about mismatched couples falling in and out of love... kind of like "When Harry Met Sally" the musical!

Chatting Dating Rules, Mr. Wrongs, Musicals and More with Elena Juatco (Interview) - Kelly Cameron, Broadway World Toronto
One of the New York lovers is Elena Juatco, returning to the Toronto stage for the first time since her Dora Award nominated portrayal of Snow White in Ross Petty’s Snow White and the Group of Seven. Elena took some time to talk with BWW about her role in the show, dating disasters, why she doesn’t kiss and tell and Jay Davis’s nude scene!

I love you because... (Review) - Stephanie Fusco, stephaniefusco.com
The chemistry between each of the six actors was palpable, encouraging the audience to root for the pairs throughout the show, and the actors’ vocals were astounding across the board. [...] I Love You Because is a can’t-miss modern day musical love story.
